Creating the Schedule
Perform the following steps to create the project schedule.
The Status and Phase values for active projects come directly from the financial system and cannot be edited. However, project managers can edit the Phase Name value when working with opportunities.
To create the schedule
If you
are not already there, click on the Schedule
tab, shown below:
Enter the Start date for the first project phase.
You may manually enter the dates or click the drop-down arrow to use the date picker tool to select the date.
Enter a Duration (in weeks) or End date for the phase.
Entering a Duration value automatically calculates the End date value. Entering an End date value automatically calculates the Duration value.
Continue entering Start, Duration and End values for all phases as needed.
To create
a link between one phase's Start
date and another's End date, select
the appropriate phase in the Follows
column.
For example, if the Start date
of the Contract Documents phase is dependent on the End
date of the Pre-Contract phase, select Pre-Contract
in the Follows column for the
Contract Documents phase. The Contract Documents Start
date will automatically be set immediately following the Pre-Contract
End date.
A Follows value is not required, especially if a phase has a Start / End date that is independent of other phases.
Enter
a Lag value to set the amount
of time by which the Start date
of the selected phase overlaps or follows after the End
date of the phase it follows.
For example, if the Design Development phase follows the Schematic Design
phase, but needs to start two weeks before the Schematic Design phase
ends, set the Lag value to -2 wks. The Start
date for Design Development is automatically set to two weeks before the
Schematic Design End date.
To create a gap between the End date of the previous phase and the Start date of the selected phase, enter a positive Lag value (i.e., 3 wks).
Select the Billing Link and Billing Type for the phase as needed.
For more information, please refer to the Billing Link section of the Schedule tab topic.
Enter any additional information in the Notes field as needed.
Click Save Current View on the ribbon bar Schedule tab to save the changes.
