Security Tab

Use the Security tab to control user access to the various tabs and tools in Project Analyzer. The values available for each attribute vary by function (column). These settings are configured using one of the following permission sets:

None/Disabled, Read Only,Allow Edit

No Access or Allow Access

To hide functionality in Project Analyzer, set the value to None/Disabled or No Access.

Each configurable setting is explained in detail below. Project Analyzer supports security groups from the accounting system to make administration easier. Configure security for Project Analyzer users using the security groups or existing security roles in the accounting system to assign permissions. Permissions can also be applied directly to an individual user as needed. Both choices are listed in the User or Group drop-down menu in each row. The first two rows are static and serve as default settings.

If a user cannot be matched to an account or group, the Analyzer Default permissions will apply.

Permissions

Each permission setting is listed below with its available options. Many of the settings have the same permission options, making it easier for administrators to review permissions.

In some cases, permissions may be superceded. For example, read-only tabs and tabs that require the display of dollar amounts are an exception to the any permissions setting. Additionally, disabling the display of dollars in Project Analyzer via the Show Dollars tool will not have an impact on those tabs.

The column order of the permission settings may be changed via drag and drop of the column labels.

The list below is shown in the default order.

Schedule tab

None/Disable: the tab is not shown

Read Only: the tab is shown but not editable

Allow Edit: the tab is shown and is editable

Task tab

None/Disable: the tab is not shown

Read Only: the tab is shown but not editable

Allow Edit: the tab is shown and is editable

Team tab

None/Disable: the tab is not shown

Read Only: the tab is shown but not editable

Allow Edit: the tab is shown and is editable

Billing tab

None/Disable: the tab is not shown

Read Only: the tab is shown but not editable

Allow Edit: the tab is shown and is editable

Reimbursable tabs (both Reimb Consultants and Reimb Expenses

Contract / Fees tab

View Projects

My Projects: Users can see only projects belonging to their My Projects list in the accounting system.

All Projects: Users can see all projects, regardless of the My Projects list in the accounting system.

The My Projects list is defined in the accounting system. The user account is included in My Projects when a user is assigned as a Project Manager, Principal in Charge, or Supervisor in the accounting system.

Edit Projects

My Projects: Users can only edit projects belonging to their My Projects list in the accounting system.

All Projects: Users can edit all projects, regardless of the My Projects list in the accounting system.

Opportunities

No Access: the Opportunities list is not available

Allow Access: the Opportunities list is available

Business Development tab

None/Disable: the tab is not shown

Read Only: the tab is shown but not editable

Allow Edit: the tab is shown and is editable

Login As Tool

No Access: Login As tool is disabled

Allow Access: Login As tool is enabled

Dormant Projects

No Access: the Active Projects Only button is forced to selected and disabled

Allow Access: the Active Projects Only button is available and enabled

Office Selection

No Access: the Office selection list is set to the employee's office and disabled

Allow Access: the Office selection list is available and enabled

Show Dollars

No Access: The Show Dollars tool is forced to unselected and disabled

Allow Access: The Show Dollars tool is available and enabled

Expanded Detail

No Access: the Show Expanded Detail button is not shown globally in Project Analyzer

Allow Access: The Show Expanded Detail button is shown and data is not editable

Timesheet Detail

No Access: the Timesheet Detail button is not shown globally in Project Analyzer

Allow Access: The Timesheet Detail button is shown and data is not editable

Target Profit Column

None/Disable: the column is not shown

Read Only: the column is shown but not editable

Allow Edit: the column is shown and is editable

Projections

No Access: the Projections tool is disabled

Allow Access: the Projections tool is available

Management Views

No Access: the Management Views tool is disabled

Allow Access: the Management Views tool is available

Financial Summary Tool

None/Disable: the Financial Summary tool is forced to unselected and disabled

Read / Allow Edit: The Financial Summary tool is enabled

Lock by Date Tool

No Access: the Lock by Date tool is forced to selected and disabled

Allow Access: the Lock by Date tool is enabled.

Accept Invoices

No Access: the Accept Invoices tool is disabled

Allow Access: the Accept Invoices tool is enabled

Consultant Accounts Payable

None/Disabled: Accounts Payable columns on the Non-Reimb Consultants tab are not shown

Read Only: Accounts Payable columns on the Non-Reimb Consultants tab are shown as read-only

Allow Edit: Accounts Payable columns on the Non-Reimb Consultants tab are shown and editable

Reset Billing Status

No Access: the Billing Status column on the Billing tab is read-only

Allow Access: the Billing Status column on the Billing tab is editable

Override Billing Dates

None/Disabled: the Billing Dates column is not shown

Read Only: the Billing Dates column is shown as read-only

Allow Edit: the Billing Dates column is shown and editable

Approval Status

The values in the Approval Status column apply to the Schedule Status, Plan Status and Budget Status drop-down lists. These values are used to indicate the status (i.e., open, approved, locked) for various attributes of a project. The values are defined below.

For more information on status types, please refer to the System Configuration Options Text tab.

View: A user with this privilege does not have the ability to modify the Schedule Status, Plan Status or Budget Status values.

Edit: The user can change the Schedule Status, Plan Status and Budget Status values.

Edit and Approve: The user can change and approve changes to the Schedule Status, Plan Status and Budget Status values.

If the status type is a Locked category, a user cannot edit data in the data grids unless they have the Edit and Approve value described above.

Custom approval statuses can be created on the System Configuration Options Text tab.

The Approved or Locked category is not the only feature that prevents the user from editing data. For instance, if the Lock by Date option is set and the date has passed the data cannot be edited.

System Configuration

No Access: the System Configuration tool is disabled

Allow Access: the System Configuration tool is enabled

To access this tab

Select System Configuration from the Project Analyzer Studio menu and click on the Security tab.
