Ribbon Bar: Home Tab
The Home tab of the Project Analyzer ribbon bar is available regardless of which project tab is selected. It includes a number of options organized into sections as described below.
Some options available on the Home tab vary depending on whether Active Projects or Active Opportunities are selected in the project list. If an option is only available for Active Projects or Active Opportunities, it is noted below.
Additional effort types (i.e., Active Marketing and Active Overhead) share the same options as Active Projects.
Project List
This section includes options related to the Projects list.
Request Project (only available when Active Projects is selected in the project list)
All projects must be created in the accounting system before they can be used in Project Analyzer. Click Request Project to open the New Project Request dialog box. Project managers fill out the form as needed to send an email request to the accounting contact for the creation of a new project in the accounting system. Once the project is created there, it will available to Project Analyzer.
This contact is configured as the New Project Requests contact on the General Settings tab in System Configuration.
When email notifications are disabled in System Configuration, this command button will be disabled.
New Opportunity (only available when Active Opportunities is selected in the project list)
Allows project managers to create new opportunities in Project Analyzer. When New Opportunity is selected, the Business Development tab opens. Enter the opportunity details as needed, then click Save Current View to create the opportunity.
Opportunities can be created directly in Project Analyzer. Opportunities created using this method exist solely in Project Analyzer - they are not copied to the accounting system.
Modify Project (only available when Active Projects is selected in the project list)
Automatically opens an email message to the accounting contact with the subject line Modify project: <project number>. Project managers can edit the body of the email to request changes be made to the project in the accounting system as needed.
When email notifications are disabled inSystem Configuration, this command button will be disabled.
Import Opportunities (only available when Active Opportunities is selected in the project list)
Opens the Import Vision Opportunities dialog box, allowing project managers to select existing opportunities from the accounting system and import them into Project Analyzer.
Delete Opportunity (only available when Active Opportunities is selected in the project list)
Deletes the selected opportunity from Project Analyzer.
The opportunity is only deleted from Project Analyzer. If the opportunity was originally imported from the accounting system, it is not deleted from the accounting system.
Refresh Project List
Reloads the list of projects from the accounting system. The currently selected project will remain highlighted provided it is still valid after the refresh.
Launch Newforma Project Center
This button is active when Project Center is installed. Click Launch Newforma Project Center to open Project Center. If Project Analyzer is configured to connect to Project Center, Project Center automatically opens the Project Home of the project currently selected in Project Analyzer.
Project mapping between Project Analyzer and Project Center is managed on the Newforma Project Center tab in System Configuration.
Launch Financials
Launches the accounting system in a separate web browser window.
Organize
This section includes options related to the organization and management of the main Project Analyzer tabs.
Save Current View
Saves any data changes made to the data grid on the currently selected tab.
Discard Current View
Discards any data changes made to the data grid on the currently selected tab.
Auto Save
When selected, Project Analyzer automatically saves any changes made to the data grid when the user moves to another tab.
Auto Save is turned off by default.
Import from Another Effort
Launches the Import from Another Effort dialog box to allow project managers to import data from one project or opportunity to another. For more information on importing project data from another effort, please refer to Import from Another Effort.
Export Tab to Excel
Exports the current data grid to a Microsoft Excel format.
Export Project to Excel
Exports project data to a Microsoft Excel format. A spreadsheet is created that contains an export of every grid-based tab in the main Project Analyzer window. Each Project Analyzer tab is exported to a separate Excel tab. In addition, any detailed staffing data is exported. Detailed staffing data is broken down by phase, with a separate tab created in Excel for each phase.
Copy Chart to Clipboard
Copies the currently selected chart to the Microsoft Windows clipboard (similar to using the Windows Copy command). The chart can then be pasted into any other application that accepts graphic files as input (i.e., Microsoft Word or Excel).
Send a Note
Generates an email using the currently selected data as a basis for the subject line and message body. For more information, refer to Send a Note.
When email notifications are disabled in the System ConfigurationGeneral Settings tab, the Send a Note option is disabled.
Send a Note requires that Microsoft Outlook is installed.
Reporting
This section provides access to the Project Analyzer reporting and analytics options.
Projections
This button launches the Newforma Project Analyzer: Projections and Analysisdialog box, providing access to a number of financial analytic and projection options. See Financial Projections for additional details.
Multiple instances of the Newforma Project Analyzer:Projections and Analysis dialog box can be opened simultaneously.
Management Views
This button launches the Newforma Project Analyzer - Management Views dialog box, providing access to a number of standard as well as custom reports. See Management Views for additional details.
Multiple instances of the Newforma Project Analyzer -Management Views dialog box can be opened simultaneously.
Other
Calculator
Opens a basic calculator as a convenience. Multiple calculators can be opened at one time.
Currency Calculator
Opens the Currency Calculator dialog box. Allows project managers to set currency conversion rates to be used in Project Analyzer.
The Currency Calculator option is only available for multi-currency databases.

Click the Home tab in the Project Analyzer ribbon bar.
