Import From Another Effort
Perform the following steps to import project data from another effort.
Common uses for importing from another effort are:
When an opportunity plan is created for a proposal and the job is won, all or part of the opportunity plan may be copied over to the regular project plan.
If a new project is similar in scope and effort to an existing project, all or part of the other project's plan may be copied over
When an opportunity plan needs to be created for a proposal that is similar to an existing project's effort and scope.
To copy opportunity plans to new opportunities to run different scenarios for scope to be proposed to the client.
To import project data from another effort
Click the Home tab of the ribbon menu bar.
Click
Import from another Effort in
the Organize section of the Home tab to open the Import
From Another Effort wizard, shown here:
Select the opportunity or project from which to import data in the Import From drop-down list or start typing any part of the project or opportunity name or number.
Select the project to which the data will be imported in the Import To drop-down list or start typing any part of the project or opportunity name or number.
Select the checkboxes for the data types to import in the Include this Data list. Data types that are not in use in the source opportunity or project are grayed out.
The Tasks and Team Assignments data types import any detailed work planning that exists in the source project. For more information, please refer to the Import from Another Effort dialog box.
Click
Next to continue with the second
screen of the wizard, shown here:
Map the phases for import using the Import From and Import To drop-down lists and click Next. Project Analyzer automatically maps any phases that are the same between the two efforts.
A pink field indicates that a selection must be made in order to continue.
All source fields must be mapped. If a value is not needed, select (None - Leave Blank or Don't Import) from the drop-down list.
In the
third screen of the wizard, shown here, map the disciplines for import
using the Import From and Import To drop-down lists and click
Next.
The Finalize Import screen appears. To automatically mark the source opportunity as inactive, select the Mark This Opportunity as Inactive checkbox. Click Next.
Review
the import settings on the Import Summary
screen, shown here. Click Finish
to import.
